ENMU-Ruidoso Branch Community College hosted the Beta Sigma Pi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society induction ceremony Feb. 24.
The event began with a welcome and opening remarks by ENMU-Ruidoso Department Chair of Education and PTK Advisor Cleo Mow. The guest speaker was ENMU-Ruidoso President, Dr. Ryan Trosper. Trosper praised the inductees and spoke about his own experience as a member of PTK as a college student.
Mow and Student Success Center Advisor/PTK Co-Advisor Destiny Hixon began the induction of the eight new members of PTK. The inductees signed the chapter record book to signify their first step into the society. They were each given a white candle to light from the larger candle, signifying their membership in the larger organization, and were presented with a white rose and a certificate. The installation of officers was announced: Robert Ruiz, vice president; and Madalyn Heidbreder, secretary/treasurer.
