Angel Eleazer

Welcome Students!

My name is Professor Angel Eleazer, and I am the instructor for Cyber-Ethics, Professionalism, and Career Development. As we progress through this course, we will learn the impact of information systems on commerce, education, and personal activities. We will also learn to use productivity tools for data analysis and communication.

A little about me. I reside in Dumfries, Virginia, approximately nineteen miles from Mt. Vernon, Virginia, President George Washington’s home. The city of Dumfries is located about thirty miles outside the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. I’ve been living in Virginia for 25 years, having originated from South Carolina.

I have worked in the Computer Science field for over 26 years, after leaving the healthcare circuit and getting my start at a reference medical laboratory, providing helpdesk support. I later moved on to a software company, which broadened my horizons into the Information Technology arena. That transition is what later led me into the world of cybersecurity. I have held several positions within cybersecurity, with my current role being a Senior Cyber Security Analyst. Working in cybersecurity has afforded me opportunities beyond my wildest dreams, which has fueled my passion for teaching the subject.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, outdoor activities, experiencing new cuisines, and spending time with family and friends. By the time this course begins, I will have taken my first hot air balloon ride in Napa Valley, California, and I am so very excited about it. I am sure I will have many stories to share, as I always do.

I hope you enjoy this course and are prepared to gain a lot of knowledge. I look forward to collaborating with you all and seeing you in class.

I have been living in El Paso since June 2000, though I am originally from Southern California. Most people know El Paso for its close relationship with Fort Bliss Army Base. It was a career move that originally brought me to El Paso, and I have been here ever since.

My passion for Computer Science spans a couple of decades of work in the IT field, but I officially got my start in 1999 through a software company. Since then, I have been fortunate to work for the DoD, Homeland Security, the City of El Paso, and even NASA. Today, I am a Cybersecurity Engineer for a Government contracting company, and teach online cybersecurity courses for ENMU-Ruidoso.

As my career in IT developed, so did my formal education and certifications. Beginning with an A+ certification, then progressing all the way through a Masters in Digital Forensics, my love for computers continues to grow. I can’t emphasize enough how important a formal Computer Science education has been in developing my computer knowledge. Knowing how to do something is as important as knowing why it’s done that way.

When work and school is not on the menu, I love spending time with my family. I have two promising young boys and a very wonderful and supportive wife. They are my pride and joy. I love taking them on trips to California and almost have them convinced that we should move out there. Ha! Wishful thinking on my part; they are 100-percent family grounded in Texas!
