MISSION STATEMENT

All Within My Hands is dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

In 2017, Metallica established their foundation, All Within My Hands, to give back to communities that have supported the band. Partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), they have grown from 10 schools to 75 with a presence in all 50 United States + Guam, supporting a variety of career and technical education programs through a total of $13.5 million in grants. 100% of donations go directly to local organizations that the Foundation supports. As always, Metallica covers all administrative costs.

Metallica Scholars Initiative

American Association of Community Colleges logoIn December 2018, All Within My Hands Foundation partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to create a major workforce education program called the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). MSI provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. The Metallica Scholars Initiative began with ten schools in 2019 and is currently active in 60 community colleges across all 50 United States and Guam.

Why Metallica Scholars ?

Aware that there is a real shortage of skilled tradespeople, the band felt they could have maximum impact and truly change lives by working with the AACC developing the program. The Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) is a major workforce education program that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education curricula. These courses provide skills and services to students looking to enter a conventional trade or other applied learning program.

“When we launched the Metallica Scholars Initiative, it really spoke to me. A collective goal of breaking the stigma of trade skills. Trade skills are vital to society, and what’s even more important is to support the many folks who are trying to create a career by learning and using these skills.”

– James Hetfield

As of 2026, MSI reached all 50 United States and Guam, and has expanded internationally to the UK. AWMH is proud to partner with Capital City College Group (CCC) in London, bringing our total number of students supported to roughly 15,000 individuals pursuing meaningful careers.
