Overview
The organization is coordinated through the External Affairs Office and involves several recruitment aspects of ENMU-Ruidoso. The Ambassadors provide campus tours for prospective students and visitors to the college.
The Ambassadors serve at many college functions and attend special receptions/college recruiting events throughout the college district where they can provide first-hand knowledge of life on campus as a student.
Criteria
The criteria for the President’s Ambassador Club is as follows:
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credits or more in the Fall/Spring semester or summer
- Flexible schedule
- Recommendation from faculty/staff member or mentor in the form of a letter
- A cheery disposition and a willingness to be an outgoing and helpful leader to students and visitors to the ENMU-Ruidoso campus
- Have a commitment to the Ambassador Program of at least 6 months
Student Ambassador Duties
The duties of a student ambassador enrolled in the program will be attending weekly meetings as well as trainings provided by the advisor of the Ambassador Club. Meetings will be held every third Thursday throughout the semester.
Student ambassadors will greet and aid visitors coming into ENMU-Ruidoso and give tours of the campus. Students will also assist faculty with tasks and office work.
Ambassador’s first priority is campus tours and escorting prospective students and parents to scheduled appointments. Ambassadors will assist in putting together prospective student packets (folders containing financial aid applications and information, list of academic programs, campus information, etc.) as well as other activities related to recruiting.
Benefits of Ambassador Club Membership
There are many benefits to joining the ENMU-Ruidoso President’s Ambassador Club. Student Ambassadors will be given the opportunity to develop real-life skills and build connections at the college and in the community; which will help them with their resumes, as well as university and job applications, and help to prepare them for their future careers.
Students will receive a stipend once they have been selected for the President’s Ambassador Club, along with an Ambassador shirt and name tag.
Upon completion of the Ambassador Program, the student will be given a letter of recommendation from the ENMU-Ruidoso President and a stipend for their service. Student Ambassadors will be seen as exemplary leaders of their college and community. Student personal and academic growth will be fostered throughout the program.
