She is a fourth-generation rancher and grew up on her family’s ranch in Wyoming. She played college basketball and was on the women’s college rodeo teams at both Western Texas College and Highlands.
She was the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IX 2007-2008 All-Defensive Player. And, the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) 2008-2009 All-Conference Player. “Sports have had a tremendous impact on my life and played a major role in preparing me to become an Athletic Director. As a student-athlete, I learned discipline, accountability, leadership, communication, and the value of hard work. Competing in athletics taught me how to handle adversity, work as part of a team, and lead with both confidence and humility,” said Clabaugh.
“Those experiences also helped me understand the important role athletics plays in shaping young people beyond competition. Coaches, teammates, and mentors influenced my growth not only as an athlete, but as a person, and that is something I hope to provide for others through leadership in athletics. Sports taught me how to build relationships, manage responsibilities, stay organized under pressure, and remain committed to long-term goals — all qualities that are essential in athletic administration. My experiences as both a high school multi-sport athlete and collegiate athlete gave me a strong understanding of the student-athlete experience and the positive impact a supportive athletic culture can have on individuals and communities,” said Clabaugh.
Her work experience not only includes working on her family ranch, she also served as a National Sales Manager for BEX Sunglasses and was a Territory Apparel Manager for Ariat.
Her father, Randy, is a third-generation rancher and her mom, Jannan, is a retired PE teacher of 40 years and retired athletic director of 10 years, as well as a multiple sport coach of 20 years. Randa has one older brother, Lamont, who is an elementary teacher and is married to Caty. “They have two amazing beautiful little girls, Cambree and Hadley, and one on the way due in July! My nieces are the light of my life and I love spending as much time with them as possible,” said Clabaugh.
Her hobbies include fitness, the outdoors, golf, rodeo and ranch life, attending sporting events, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite quote is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The Athletic Coordinator position is responsible for the function and supervision of the Athletic Department, coaches, scheduling, and general supervision of athletes.
The College is currently recruiting men’s and women’s rodeo and cross-country team members. Randa can be reached by email at Randa.Clabaugh@enmu.edu or by calling 575-315-1167.
