Six ENMU-Ruidoso Dual Credit Students Competed at State SkillsUSA Contest, Two won Gold and Bronze

The ENMU-Ruidoso Dual Credit Fire Fighting students who attend Cloudcroft High School won first and third at the recent competition held at the New Mexico State SkillsUSA Conference and Skilled Contests at Central New Mexico Community College and the Marriott Pyramid Conference Center in Albuquerque March 26-29, 2025. Logan McNeil was recognized for winning the Gold Medallion and Sabra Clark won the Bronze Medallion. Their Firefighting Instructor is Maria Crump.
ENMU-Ruidoso’s SkillsUSA Chapter began last school year and the chapter includes over 20 active members. Dual Credit students joined the student organization in the fall semester and practiced for the state competition during the regularly scheduled trades classes such as nursing assistant, firefighting, welding, prepared speech, and job skills demonstration. SkillsUSA is a partnership of dual credit students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
Additionally, Mescalero High School Welding Instructor Mike Gaines took three students who competed in the welding contest. Ruidoso High School Instructor John Rucker advised one prepared speech student at the conference.
