L to R: Three Ruidoso area students recently graduated from the ENMU-Roswell Associate of Science degree Nursing program and participated in the ENMU-Ruidoso Commencement Ceremony held at the Inn of the Mountain Gods May 8 in Mescalero: Noa Madrid, Rebecca Canavan and Whittni Carmiencke.

The three area nursing students who graduated May 2025 recently passed the NCLEX exam, and are now officially, licensed registered nurses (RN) and all are successfully employed.

Congratulations and best wishes to:

Rebecca Canavan, RN, is currently employed at a out-of-state surgical hospital in Peri-op (perioperative refers to the period surrounding a surgical procedure, encompassing the time before, during, and after the operation) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Whittni Carmiencke, RN, is employed with a local home health agency which serves patients in Lincoln and Otero counties.

Noa Madrid, RN, is also employed with a local hospital in the mother and baby unit.

“All three are loving their new jobs and serving their communities through the nursing profession,” reports Kathy Brooks, MSN, RN, ENMU-Ruidoso Nursing Instructor.

In 2024 ENMU-Ruidoso and ENMU-Roswell entered into an agreement to seamlessly deliver the Roswell Campus accredited nursing program to the Ruidoso Campus. Each fall a cohort of nursing students are admitted into the program which typically includes eight to 16 students. The courses are offered in-person at the Ruidoso Campus. Upon completion of the program the students are awarded an Associate of Science degree in Nursing.
