Home School & Dual Credit

CAN A PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION OFFER DUAL CREDIT TO HOME SCHOOL OR PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS?

Yes, legislation (SB 158 Dual Credit Program Parity) permits home school and private school students to participate in the dual credit program with a tuition and fee waiver. Home school and private school students however are responsible for incurring the costs of their textbooks, materials, and associated course fees. Home school and private school students are also required to enroll in a meta-major, must have a Next Step Plan available for review, are limited to a maximum of two courses per semester, and are eligible for the dual credit program only until their 18th birthday regardless of their high school diploma status.
