Session Descriptions

Rotations of Courses & College Certificates – Ryan Trosper or Coda Omness will welcome attendees. Student advocates will share course pathways for Associate’s Degrees and Certificates in General Studies, Welding, Energy, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Education, Digital Media, and Healthcare: (Phlebotomy, EMS, CAN) as well as discuss targeted pathways at the college and specific high schools.

Adjunct On-Boarding Part 1 – Destini Taylor shares the hiring process, general college adjunct expectations and resources, who to contact for issues, how adjuncts access the ENMU-Ruidoso Portal, and how to access the Self-Service Banner (SSB).

Adjunct On-Boarding Part 2 – RaLynne Stanbrough and Coda Omness guide instructors in semesterly expectations via a semester calendar: How to approve pay via the Faculty Load And Compensation, creating and filing a Syllabus, submitting attendance, entering mid-term grades, entering final grades, and archiving each gradebook.

Dual-Credit Processes – Student Advocates Hank Hargis and Ashley Roberts along with help from school leaders and counselors share the preferred processes for enrolling students: completing college applications and registering for classes. The session leaders will also discuss a process for checking rosters and the importance of communicating course outcomes and instructor evaluation timelines and tools.

CTE Funding Part 1 – John Rucker along with school administrators, counselors, and service providers will discuss different expectations for NextGen and Perkins for 2023-2024 and continue planning logistics for the NextGen 2023-24 fund, presenting a menu of courses, locations, times, instructor trainings, CTSO support, and field trips. The NextGen 2023-24 pooled consortium plans should compliment LEA pursuits in CTE programs. We will establish key contacts and major initiatives available through these funds.

CTE Funding Part 2 – John Rucker with support from Tiffany Walker (PED CCRB Coach) along with school leaders will discuss NextGen and Perkins Requirements and strategies for meeting those requirements: Applications, Pooled approaches, Spending Timeline, Data Reporting, Programs of Study, and more.

Canvas LMS for Beginners – Student Advocate and ENMU-Ruidoso instructor Ashley Roberts guides instructors in Canvas standard practices, tips & tricks, minimum expectations, and teases the intermediate/advanced workshop later in the fall.

College Fridays (other arrangements for RHS & Cloudcroft HS) – Coda Omness and John Rucker lead this working session in expanding access to college courses. School counselors and administrators are encouraged to bring an idea of which pathways they wish to enhance and how those courses might work into the high school schedule. Logistical concerns to sort during this session: scheduling, bussing, food (if on ENMU campus), advisors and chaperones, and the many other concerns you bring.

Industry Certifications – John Rucker shares train the trainer options for industry certificates in welding, culinary, construction, digital media, and healthcare. We will share conference and training times and certificates gained especially for AWS, ServSafe, NCCER, OSHA10, CPR, CNA, Phlebotomy, and EMS for your instructors and students. Costs covered for NextGen pooled members.

Industry Advisory Meetings – Local and regional leaders in Construction & Fabrication, Healthcare, and Hospitality share input for how educational institutions can support students entering these fields and how we can partner with them. Please share willing industry partners’ contact information with John Rucker if you’d like them represented in this capacity.
