First Rodeo Competition Results in Wins for Two ENMU-Ruidoso Team Members!

The ENMU-Ruidoso Rodeo Team competed at their first College Rodeo of the season at the Grand Canyon Regional #1 Sept. 19-20 in Duncan, Ariz.
Freshman General Studies student, Olyvia Hildman of Nogal tied for sixth/seventh in the Breakaway Roping long go-round with a 2.9 second run, and came back to the short/final go-round to make a smoking run of 2.4 seconds to be second in the final round and placed first the average.
Sophomore Nursing student Sage Bennett of Capitan started a great breakaway run to be fast, but her calf ran through her loop. She’ll be dialed in for the next rodeo.

Freshman Electrical student, David Sanchez of Ruidoso, made the finals in the Bull Riding event and scored 79 points to win the finals and placed first the average.
The team will compete next on Sept. 26-27 at Cochise College, Douglas, Ariz., and the last rodeo of the fall semester will be Oct. 10-11 at Mesalands Community College, Tucumcari, N.M. There will be seven more college rodeos during the spring semester. ENMU-Ruidoso Rodeo team competes in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (N.I.R.A.) Grand Canyon Region which consists of two- and four-year colleges and universities in Arizona and New Mexico including Central Arizona College, Cochise College, Diné College, Mesalands Community College, Navajo Technical College, New Mexico State University and the University of Arizona.
